unexpectedly passed away on Monday afternoon. Several prominent members of the VHP who had received the shocking news from the other high ranking leaders of the VHP confirmed the news in an interview with Times of Suriname. The exact cause of death is still unknown. Reports indicate that an ambulance rushed to the private residence of Santokhi at Lelydorp after a call about a medical emergency had been received. Upon arrival at the residence the paramedics found out that Santokhi needed emergency medical service. Santokhi was rushed to the Emergency Room of the Academic Hospital Paramaribo (AZP) where he was eventually pronounced dead. The VHP is expected to release an official statement in response to the sudden passing of its chairman.
