PARAMARIBO- The administration of President Jennifer Simons recently concluded making an inventory of the wage system within the judiciary...

The investigation was launched in response to the wave of criticism from the people who were shocked to hear how much the attorney actually earns at the end of each month. The issue was brought to the attention of parliament after MP Poetini Atompai (NPS) had asked several questions. MP Atompai asked for a complete list of the salaries within the judiciary. “The nation has the right to demand action from the government and if we do nothing, we are also responsible for allowing things to continue this way,” said MP Atompai. Meanwhile Vice President Gregory Rusland has informed parliament that the information that was requested has been collected. However, the government has decided not to go public yet with the information. “We have the information and when the time is right we will certainly present it to you,” VP Rusland told parliament.
