Health Ministry to make 114 available 24/7

PARAMARIBO -  114 which is a helpline has become an important platform for people who urgently need help with their mental problems.

Health, Welfare and Labor Minister  Andre Misiekaba explained that many people call the helpline every day and that they have actually received help. 114 is currently available every day from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. The Health Ministry wants to make this service available 24/7. This means that more counselors are needed. A new group of counselors are already being trained and as soon as they are available, the helpline will be active day and night. People with suicidal tendencies, domestic violence problems or who are caught in other crisis situations can call this number. Minister Misiekaba pointed out that the ministry will present concrete results of this helpline.
