and the governance of artificial intelligence are becoming increasingly prominent. Against this backdrop of uncertainty and complexity, improving global governance has become a common aspiration of the international community.

Recently, China released the white paper Building a Fairer and More Equitable Global Governance System: China's Proposals and Actions, which comprehensively outlines China's vision, initiatives and practical efforts to improve global governance, demonstrating its commitment as a responsible major country.

China's Global Governance Initiative aims to promote a fairer and more equitable global governance system that better serves the common interests of all humanity. The initiative upholds sovereign equality, the rule of law in international affairs, true multilateralism, fairness and justice, and the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits. It seeks to provide Chinese wisdom and solutions to pressing global governance challenges. Since its launch, the initiative has received support from nearly 160 countries and international organizations, while more than 60 countries have joined the Group of Friends of the Global Governance Initiative. At the Group's meeting held in late May, China proposed nine directions for reforming and improving global governance, which received positive responses from the United Nations Secretariat and participating parties.

An important element of China's approach is safeguarding the central role of the United Nations. China firmly supports the international system with the United Nations at its core, the international order underpinned by international law, and the basic norms governing international relations based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. China believes that international affairs should be discussed by all countries, international rules should be formulated and observed by all countries, and unilateralism and power politics should be rejected in favor of greater democracy in international relations.

Reforming global governance should reflect the evolving international landscape and enhance the representation and voice of developing countries, particularly those of the Global South. Global governance must more fairly reflect the interests and concerns of all countries. China supports stronger South-South cooperation and North-South dialogue, and advocates an equal and orderly multipolar world and universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization.

As an active participant, builder and contributor to global governance, China has played a constructive role in addressing climate change, advancing international development cooperation, safeguarding world peace and security, and promoting governance in emerging fields. China will continue to work with Suriname and other countries to uphold true multilateralism, practice the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, promote a fairer and more equitable global governance system, and make new contributions to world peace, common development, and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
