KABALEBO – The boat trip from Apoera to Southdrain and vice versa has become cheaper because the National Transportation Company
(NVB) has deployed boats on this route. Travelers reportedly have to pay the NVB boats SRD 500 for a one way boat trip. Before the arrival of the state boats travelers had to pay the private boat owners SRD 1,000 for the same one way boat trip. The one way boat trip on this route reportedly takes about ninety minutes. Passengers who want to take a bus from Southdrain to Nieuw-Nickerie must pay an additional SRD 35. District Commissioner Kevin Bronne applauded the arrival of the NVB and explained that the deployment of the boats brings much relief to the wallets of the civilians. “Civilians can now travel for half the price. They must currently pay SRD 500 instead of SRD 1,000 for a boat trip,” said DC Bronne who expects the local community to make good use of the NVB boats.
