PARAMARIBO – “About one hundred brushcutters that belong to the Public Works Ministry were divided among friends and family by the previous administration,”....

said Public Works Minister Stephen Tsang before attending the weekly session of the Council of Ministers. Minister Tsang pointed out that a high number of these brushcutters were not used for the designated purposes but that they ended up in the hands of outsiders. “We managed to track down many of them. It turned out that one hundred of them were divided among friends and family and now we are reclaiming them,” said Minister Tsang who added that more than sixty brushcutters have been recovered. The Public Works Ministry is currently busy tracking down the rest so that they can also be reclaimed before being used for public services. The brushcutters were purchased for maintenance work in residential areas and along the public roads. Minister Tsang made it clear that government property may only be used in the nation’s best interest.
