Marciano Hellings who was reelected as the chairman of the union that represents the workers at the Energy Company Suriname (EBS) made it clear that protecting the interests of the union members will remain a priority. He told  Times of Suriname that his colleague is gradually recovering but that he has not been discharged yet from the hospital. The union has already contacted the police to find out if investigators have made progress with the investigation. “The union is waiting for the results of the investigation. It is important to find out what led to the shooting,” said Hellings. The formalities surrounding the board elections that were held recently must be completed this week. The new board will officially come into office on October 3rd.
