(EBS), met with president Jennifer Simons at the Office of the President last Tuesday. During this meeting the actual situation within the EBS was discussed. After the meeting president Simons announced that she would invite the union and the management team to a meeting for consultation.
OWOS chairman Marciano Hellings told the CDS that the conflict between the union and management was also discussed as the conflict had recently triggered a strike. The union deems it important for steps to be taken swiftly in order to restore tranquility within the company. The Office of the President will arrange for both parties to hold a dialogue with each other. Chairman Hellings expressed his relief and pointed out that he trusts the head of state. “The president is an authority. If she realizes the seriousness of the matter and especially the things that we brought to her attention and has promised to address them, one must believe that things will get better”, said the union chairman who added that the EBS plays a crucial role within the nation. Hellings made it clear that good governance and a clear course are essential.
