Energy Company Suriname (EBS) to adjust the price of cooking gas each semester. The price hike is part of the policy to gradually phase out the state subsidy on cooking gas. The price of one 28 lbs cylinder is raised from SRD 508 to SRD 535. According to the ministerial decreet of August 31st 2023 this is supposed to be the final price adjustment. The price of one 14 kilogram composite cylinder has also gone up as the price went from SRD 530 to SRD 556.50. The final price adjustment has been scheduled to take place on December 1st 2026. Not all of the gas products will become more expensive. The price of one 20 lbs cylinder will remain steady at SRD 369.24. The price of the 40 lbs cylinder will remain at SRD 699,98 and the price of bulk gas will remain at SRD 18.90 per liter. The 10 kilogram and the 22 kilogram composite cylinder have reportedly reached their final tariff of SRD 400 and SRD 880 respectively.
