PARAMARIBO – Justice and Minister Harish Monorath recently responded to the growing number of deadly road accidents by calling on road users to act responsibly in traffic. Last week road accidents claimed the lives of three people and left multiple people with injuries.
“Road deaths are a serious matter that require much attention,” said Minister Monorath who added that each victim not only represents personal drama for family and loved ones but that it also has a broad social impact. Minister Monorath emphasized that prevention via traffic safety measures, education and enforcement is crucial in order to reduce the number of victims. He urged all of the nation’s road users to be aware of the risks and to drive safely. “Together we can make our streets safer and prevent unnecessary tragedies,” said Minister Monorath.
