This year the foundation wants to help improve healthcare to newborns and children. The donations will go to the Neonatal High Care Unit, the Paediatric High Care Unit and the Children’s Clinic. Su Aid aims at collecting USD 244,000 or SRD 9 million so that medical appliances can be purchased for this hospital. Paediatrician Laurindo Kloof, initiator of the project, pointed out that the Neonatal High Care Unit was established in August 2024 and that it started with 4 beds. Due to the high demand its capacity was expanded to 9 beds. But because of the growing number of beds, it also needs more equipment. The hospital reportedly wants to open a Paediatric High Care Unit at its Paediatric Ward. The chairman of Su Aid, Giwanni Zeggen, explained that he consciously chose this project to help out the most vulnerable group. He hopes that the nation will give its full support to the campaign. This year Su Aid will commence with its radio broadcasts in November. Starting on November 2nd the foundation will go live from the

High Care Unit in association with Radio 10. During these broadcasts the medical team and other people will explain why certain equipment is needed but they will also share the personal experiences of parents. Medical Director Soenita Nannan Panday-Gopising emphasized that a high number of women give birth at the hospital every year. Some babies are born prematurely and therefore require special care. Although the hospital has people with the necessary skills and expertise, it still needs more equipment and funds. The deputy director at the hospital’s Financial Affairs Department, Angela Sluisdom-Lobo, explained that there is a shortage of spare equipment which is why the hospital has to ask other hospitals for help.
