because this primary school which has been renovatee before the start of the new school year, was recently hit by burglars who made off with the faucets and the copper pipes. The school yards and a hall were flooded after the theft and vandalism. The school reportedly needs seven additional faucets. The renovation was made possible by a donation from China via Paramaribo South- East District Commissioner Wennys Vijfhoven. The thefts started during the renovation activities. The thieves reportedly made off with faucets, copper pipes, buckets of paint and bags of cement. After the renovations were carried out the faucets were stolen again. Olivia Ajaiso, principal of this school, emphasized that “the thefts which happened shortly after the renovation project was completed, are painful”. “It is painful because it was a donation to our school and it was the first donation,” said the principal who urged the people who reside in Beekhuyzen to help keep an eye on things at this school.
