JAMAICA - Jamaican-born, Florida-based Grammy-winning songwriter and recording artiste Vision Alexander is celebrating the recent gold-certification...
of American R&B singer Teyana Taylor’s third studio album The Album. The Album was on June 19 certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of American (RIAA) for sales and streaming equivalent of 500,000 units. Vision Alexander and fellow Grammy-winning producer Sean Alaric and MIXX (California based multi-platinum selling producer/engineer whose parents are Jamaicans), were involved in the track Bad, which is featured on Taylor’s project.
In an interview with the Jamaica Observer, Vision Alexander explained how he got to be a part of Taylor’s album. “A good friend of mine by the name of MIXX reached out to me and Sean Alaric to be a part of the Teyana Taylor album. Our involvement was to give the authentic dancehall/reggae vibe and essence to the project. An example of this production which Teyana’s fans fell in love with, off the album was a song called Bad. I, Sean, MIXX, and Kongo were honoured to be asked to bring a sound that represented our Jamaican culture and vibe. The song Bad brought that Jamaican essence that Teyana wanted to share with her fans. Thanks to MIXX and Teyana for believing in Sean and myself to execute and be a part of this great body of work,” Vision Alexander shared.
Vision Alexander shared that the collaboration was completed during the pandemic. “Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to meet Teyana in person. During that time the album was created during the pandemic, Sean and I were based in Florida… Teyana and MIXX were based in California. Teyana, not too long after The Album was released, decided to take a break from music for a couple of years. So to get this news that this body of work, which was created in 2020, has gone gold is definitely a blessing for all individuals involved in this project. Just goes to show you good music always finds it way no matter the time or place,” he said. Vision Alexander said earning this certification really means a lot. (Jamaica Observer)
