GUYANA - Popular international quick-service restaurant brand, Wendy’s, is set to enter the Guyanese market with the opening of its first location on Vlissengen Road, Georgetown in August 2025.
The expansion comes through a franchise agreement with WenKai Inc., which plans to open three Wendy’s restaurants across Guyana by the end of 2025. According to a release, the first Wendy’s restaurant will offer a modern and convenient dining experience, featuring drive-thru service, dine-in seating, and delivery. Customers can expect to enjoy Wendy’s full menu of bold, signature flavors, from breakfast to dinner.
Iman Khan-Cummings, Founder and Franchisee of WenKai Inc., expressed his excitement about the new development, stating: “This is a proud moment for us. We’ve long admired Wendy’s for its commitment to quality, innovation, and hospitality. Bringing this beloved brand to Guyana—our home—is incredibly exciting. We look forward to serving fresh, made-to-order meals and building strong community relationships through this new venture.”
Carlos Ribas, SVP and Managing Director for Latin America & Caribbean at The Wendy’s Company, added that Latin America remains a key market for the brand. “The opening of the first Wendy’s restaurant in Guyana marks an exciting milestone in our journey to bring our fresh, famous food to fans throughout Latin America. It reflects our commitment to accelerate growth in high-potential markets while delivering exceptional hospitality to local consumers,” he said.
The brand noted that Guyana’s increasing demand for high-quality international food options and fast, innovative service makes the country an ideal market for its continued global expansion. This move, according to the release, also aligns with Wendy’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Additionally, Dawn Ng See Quan, Head of Operations at WenKai Inc., emphasized the company’s commitment to high standards. “At WenKai, we’re committed to delivering excellence in every detail—from sourcing and operations to customer experience. Wendy’s is a perfect match for today’s Guyanese consumer: fresh, flavorful, and fast—but never ordinary,” she stated. (Kaieteur News)
