PARAMARIBO – Police reports indicate that the burglary suspect who was gunned down around 3:25 a.m. at a private residence located in the Julianaweg last Monday has a criminal record. J.B., the 61-year-old owner of the house who was at another location received a notification from the security...
system, so he grabbed his hunting rifle and rushed to the house. When he arrived at the house, he saw an unknown man exiting his house via the garage. J.B. did not hesitate but immediately fired two shots in the direction of the suspect before driving to the Houttuin Police Station to report the incident. Police units then rushed to the private residence where they found the body of the suspect next to the house. The burglary suspect had a gunshot wound in the back of his head. The police believe that the suspect did not act alone and that he and his accomplices had entered the private residence by removing a section of the ceiling outside of the house before ransacking the entire house. The other suspects reportedly took a DVR box, a big TV and other valuable items. The police later found the 60 inch TV next to the fence. The homeowner has a permit for the hunting rifle.
