identified as R.T. is suspected of having stabbed a woman in the face with a broken bottle. The unprovoked attacked which was caught on a security camera shows the suspect approaching the victim before stabbing her in the Maagdenstraat. After the suspect had stabbed the woman, he fled the scene on foot.

Shortly after the stabbing incident police officers from the Center Police Station rushed to the scene and came across the victim who had stab wounds. They also spotted several shards of glass at the scene of the crime. The victim was then rushed to the Emergency Room of the Academic Hospital Paramaribo (AZP) by ambulance. The police officers then started looking for the suspect and spotted him in the vicinity shortly after the attack had taken place. The investigation is ongoing. The attack has sent shockwaves through the nation and many citizens are calling for the removal of homeless people with mental health problems from the streets so that they can receive the medical treatment that they need.
