Union Chairman Robby Berenstein explained that no agreement has been reached with management regarding the execution of the ruling of the Mediation Council. The Mediation Council pointed out that the workers should be awarded a salary increase of 14 to 16 percent. It also mentioned a once-only payment of a certain percentage of the salary and a 12% raise of the transportation allowance. Meanwhile the bank had already executed portions of the ruling but reportedly does not want to give a salary increase of 11.4 percent. The  CBWO is determined to stick to the ruling of the Mediation Council and demands a salary increase of 14 to 16 percent. According to Berenstein, management keeps putting up new obstacles to hamper the agreement. The union chairman pointed out that in the meantime the union has received a letter from the Mediation Council. Management had reportedly asked the Mediation Council to urge the union to prevent further escalation. The union nevertheless held its union meeting and press conference. Berenstein explained that the union had already scheduled these activities and therefore could not cancel them out of the blue.
